Kids Corner

Kids can play an important part in our fight against climate change. Below are some educational resources to help kids, parents and teachers get involved in protecting our climate.

  • EPA Climate Change site for kids
  • Global Warming Kids is a comprehensive Web portal for kids ages 7 through 15. This Web site offers information on science projects, video games, television, and other Web sites that deal with climate change as well as solutions for climate change.
  • Tiki the Penguin has many resources to help kids understand climate change and show them what they can do to stop it.
  • The U.S. Department of Energy sponsored educational site, Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program, includes fun activities for middle school kids and classroom resources for teachers. Includes a question archive, "Ask a Scientist", news, and a list of lesson plans.
  • The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) Web site offers activities especially for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade.
  • The Pew Center on Global Climate Change site offers information on climate change and links to other kids' sites.
  • Scholastic's Act Green™ Web site is designed to motivate kids to take action in school, at home, and in their community. It offers tips, short films, and a "Green Room" to share ideas with other kids. It also offers resources for parents and teachers.
  • The National Wildlife Federation's Climate Classroom offers resources for kids, parents and teachers.
  • The Climate Change Education site is a resource for teachers, offering lesson plans, curriculum, and materials for kindergarten through 12th grade.
  • The U.S. Forest Service Web site features favorites such as Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl giving us information on pollution and preventing unplanned wildfires.
  • This guide for teachers offers educational information about climate change for the classrooms.
  • The US Global Change Research Program has a comprehensible, clearinghouse of information for educators.
  • Get homework help, play games, and find summer internship opportunities with the National Institute of Environmental Health.
  • Learn how to Keep Oceans Clean and reduce waste. Play games and get tips for parents and teachers.
